For this body of work, I considered the accumulated papers of a lifetime, specifically from a psychoanalytic education, papers that once read, stay filed away, entombed in cabinets and boxes. In a desire to recontextualize these works and in the context of the images of destruction, I began destroying the papers and making new handmade paper and objects. The title has a dual meaning, referring not only to its everyday one of discarding, but also to its philosophical (Heideggerian) meaning as a process of acquiring understanding. That makes sense to me, that with art, the meaning is in the making.
